this was the most delicious cake i have ever made. i got the recipe from my friend yossy who is a baker in big ole’ NYC!  instead of trying to cut the calories and make the dessert more healthy, i dumped two cups of butter into this bad boy.  one cup for the cake, and one for the icing.  this cake was very simple to make, but had a little secret ingredient: hot coffee.

Combine in the bowl of a stand mixer:
3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
4 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups cocoa powder
1 T baking soda
1 T baking powder
1 1/2 t salt
In a separate bowl combine:
4 large eggs
1/2 cup sour cream
1 cup canola or veg oil
2 cups whole milk
2 t vanilla
Slowly add wet ingredients to dry.
Mix for 2 min on med speed.
Stir in 1 1/2 cups hot coffee.
This recipe makes 6 8” layers, you should cut it in half for one
awesome 3 layer cake.
Divide in pans and bake at 350 until the tops spring back or a tooth-
pick inserted in the center comes out clean.
